Advantage Rafa

Yesterday, while watching the Australian open finals with my family, most of them were cursing Rafa to lose because of the animosity they have against him as he defeated their demigod Roger Federer many times.

But then I was silent and was in deep thoughts on why I liked Rafal nadal over the possibly GOAT (greatest of all time)  Roger Federer[RF]. To make things first clear, I do not play tennis but thanks to my dad and my uncle, since childhood I love watching tennis. And now coming back to the situation on why I rooted Nadal over RF made me think for some time. Unlike in 90's where Pete Sampras had stiff competition with stalwarts like Aggasi, Beker, Ivanisavic; Federer ruled the roost and if I have to put it in words, there was no match to his excellence up until some time when Rafa started winning. To be frank, initially I didn't admire Nadal and thought he was a passing cloud just like the other clay court specialists, whose fame faded as it came.  His game was not at all alluring, he was loud and seriously thought he was a one surface wonder.

But once he started fighting back against RF in other grand slams and won Wimbledon, that is when I started admiring him. Federer, who is   naturally a god gifted player, is undoubtedly the better player among the two. The technique he has, the back hand shots he plays are matchless. There is with out any doubt that he puts the same efforts as any other top seeded player but what made me realize that Rafa is someone whom I can look up to is his sheer will power to fight back and become an epitome of  'practice makes a man perfect'. Nadal's game is definitely not a treat to watch out unlike Federer's, but over a period of time he changed himself, he practiced hard and mastered the game.

I am a philomath. I try to learn things by observing others. And I watch tennis not to learn the game but to learn life lessons. While Federer is someone whom we wish we were born like, but Nadal is someone we all can relate and get inspired from. Nadal knew his limitations but strived hard with sheer determination to fight against his opponents, his body ( not to forget his back and the knee pains), to go against the odds and reach beyond what was destined to him. We can't ask ourselves to be naturally graceful and be god gifted like Federer but we can attempt to be like Nadal!

                                                             Nadal, you are an inspiration!

Vamos Rafa!

Anand is now 'VISHWANATH

1983 Cricket world cup finals...Indian celebrations reached skyscrapers. 2007 20-20 world cup....Indians were euphoric and their delight was just out of proportions. 2008 The Bonn World Chess Championship.....Anand makes the Cut ....but India is celebrating laxman's 200 knock against Oz!! eh?that's pity!

Well for now,Anand-The King of the Indian chess is now the Master of world by winning all the three formats in which chess is played at the ace level -The Knockout , The Tournament and The Match play .Sadly, this Indian origin sport has got the enlightenment only in the late 1980's when the chess wizard won the first World Junior Championship for India.Anand was the Speed breaker tothe then Dominants of chess, the ‘The Russians’ through his aggressive and fast gaming style. His Image has reached the paramount with his achievements and has made chess more exciting in 1990's and there has been a horn of plenty Grandmasters in India since then.

Anand,Rathode,Bindra,karthikeyan have shown what India can be in other disciplines too, in this present time where cricket is been looked up as a religion(this is w.r.t the famous quote “if cricket is a religion, then sachin is the God of cricket").The endorsers who always looked at cricket as their only option, have got their alternative with the Anand’s success which is good for the game because chess, like all other sports in India except cricket, is short on funds. Sponsorships and ad assignments will help young grandmasters, like Harika and Koneru Humpy to raise their game.

Badminton and tennis have shown occasional scintillations. For a country like India, which is an emerging global power ,showing a very poor track record in the sports is shameful. Govt should look up in setting a proper infrastructure in grooming kids right 4m their early stages and turning them into Mark phelps of India or may b Ian thorpe.sometimes it deeply hurts when we hear the news like the Hon'ble Sports minister asking a dumb question "who are u" to the great players of India like Gopichand .When Australia or Japan ,which are just half or even lesser populated than India can make their mark in the Sports arena, y not India? Definitely not insurmountable.

It is important that India builds on these successes in different sports. After all, Success breeds success.It is Time for the Indians to look up for other sports ....India is definitely not all about Cricket. Probably there should be a day in d near future where a common sport lover would discuss "ah! That was indeed a witty move and a perfect use of the pawn....Check!".

Congrats Anand for all wat u achieved ....u r indeed The VISHWANATH!!

~~~~~~~~S3--its truly K3G~~~~~~~~
Hmmm……wat a life I have had these years@ BITS ! ….specially this semester ! .This semester has brought in me an immense feeling of both Joy and Sorrow .Joy 4 all the happiest moments I hav shared with my dearest buddies…b it d tym of campus placements ,the Banana ride , the Road trip n of course the mahabhaleshwar trip , Sorrow coz i'l b missing them 4 ever !:(.To put it short this sem is K3G-Kabhi kushi Kabhi Gham .:-).
I still remember the day when I first entered the campus …...the heart paining nostalgic moments when my pop was leaving me all alone in the campus, ….the thoughts of catching up the immediate next flight 2 my home n 2 chuck out of the then hell campus. After the four blissful years @ BITS, 2dayI just pose a grin when I luk bak into my thoughts ,thinking how foolish I was :).Ironically ,the day when I said alvidaa 2 the campus n returned home ….no surprise I had the same feeling of catching up the immediate next flight 2 my now Jannath campus!:D.May b every one in the campus has had the same pain ,the same joy ,the same emotion when they left the campus.But I feel a bit more painful , a bit more emotionally braced….coz am part of the g8 S3(Simply Superb n Sensuous ! ):Dbranch!
TO be frank and true to my heart ….my identity in the campus as an S3(economics)ite is more popular than p7(compsci)ite ..and henceforth I thought of blogging one post on my journey as an economite or as a S3i-ite .
Well...2day ,I share the same feeling of how a mama wud feel proud whenever she luks at her baby turning in2 a successful lad!!. I had a great pleasure in shaping up the economics department to my level best by being part of the creative club for designing the t-shirts, posters with the help of my dearest juniors .
Though my journey @ BITS has cum 2 an end ,I’l never forget all those moments i had in my economics classes.
How can i forget my first class of Principles Of Econ taught by our dearest PATNAIK sir,( though it tuk a longtym 4 me to realise what he taught !)??……how can i forget my first ACCOUNTS class taught by the guyz heartthrob-MISSSS PINKY, which perhaps is the only class I never guzzed :D(OBB!)??……How can i forget My single digit marks in EGP, when i xpected to top the test(LOL) ??…..How can i forget d B’day Party celebrations, the one n only AMBOLIM TRIP, our hangouts @ MONGINIS, The song Sung BY our PATNAIK SIR………how can I forget the heartiest greeting “YOYOO KK”of my dearest ones whn ever they c me around…….???
...............how can I???.............:(
"I love the simple word “YOYO KK “
It always rings a joyful bell
But one of the saddest words i know
Is the oft times tearful word GudByee.
The word 'YOYO KK' a word I always love
It always rings a joyful bell
But one word I don't like to hear
And that is the sad word 'GudByeee' ………GudByee BITS Gudbyee !"
My journey @ BITS wudn’t havbeen treasurable if i wuz not an Economite,because it has molded me into a gud human ,brought in me a great maturity and above all made me found my dearest friends of lifetym.
To end i wud say ~~~S3!! Truly its K3G---Kabhi Kushi Kabhi NEHIN gham :D~~~of my life :)
Hu la la la hu le ooooo00000
Okay!! now that im quite jobless these days (hols obb ) n even it has been long tym since I blogged 4 all d obvious reasons (hail BITS network n its proxy web page blocking system !!) ,am bak into action!!Since it’s the New Year tym...Every news channel is doing d survey on the Indian icon 2k7. No surprise even this tym the frontline contenders in d race r d same old black horses Sachin, Srk, PM, APJ etc etc...But 4 me the Show maker of 2007 is the “King of Good times”, India’s most charismatic billionaire Dr.Vijay Mallya.
Well every cricket lover and even the sports lover should have remembered the famous
"Hu la la la hu le ooooo" chanted by the entire West Indies Cricket team back in 1997 when India toured the exotic country. Actually they were all endorsing Vijay Mallya's United Brewery's Kingfisher Beer. Mallya, the Indian Sir Richard Branson, has the a larger-than-life personality can be easily figured out in any party wid a band of best sizzling babes around him and with gold chains glittering wid pride on him, and a gigantic bracelet with his initials spelled out in diamonds.. Born on Dec 18th 1955, this flamboyant entrepreneur succeeded his father as the UB chairman in 1983, conglomerate now spans 4m breweries (his Kingfisher beer is a staple of Indian restaurants and even 4 my fellow BitsGians rite guys??) to Kingfisher Airlines, a leading Indian carrier and the recent three major acquisitions in 2k7
1- ) Whyte & Mackay, which produces nearly one-tenth of the world's Scotch whisk
2--) his Kingfisher airlines merged with Air Deccan, the lowest fair airline
3---) Formula 1 Team, Ferrari Spyker from the Mol Family in Amsterdam.
Till a year b4 every one called him the Beer Baron but after 2k7 it will be completely unfair to confer him with that tag since he has moved on and has created another identity for himself by these major acquisitions in one year. His acquisition of Scottish whiskey Whyte & Mackay in the early days of 2k7 means that the UB now has a market share of nearly 60% in the booze market and marking its monopoly! His ventures did not end over there and in mid May he gave a great thump in the aviation dept by merging with the India’s lowest fair airline AirDeccan. His Kingfisher airlines has already started making its mark by providing the ultra luxury servicesin the airbuses with seat back screens and very attentive and I must say ….very sexy airhostess (I bet u can fly at least 4 them:P ) and travellers' friendly crew .By entering into the aviation, he earned the corporate acceptance he craved 4 and is quite sure to take the advantage of an expected doubling in India’s air passenger traffic, to 60 million, by 2010.( I’m jus fascinated to his foresight or ne damn sight ).And finally in October he made many of our dream cum true by making out a deal of $124 million wid Spyker, and lets hope that Narayan karthik who recently won the first Indian A1 race will make into the Mallya’s F1 team very soon.
While luking bak at the calendar this year , this Indian Tycoon has been in d news through out the year , b it 4 his acquisitions or by throwing his very own style of party in his one and only 311-foot yacht ,the INDIAN EMPRESS where
every celeb and wannabe yearns to be a part of it. Even the latest shell bomb Deepika padukone was part of kingfisher Dynasty by endorsing the KF airlines. His business acquisitions have been the talk of the town, but this entrepreneur does know how to mix leisure with business. Hope Mallya's “Good Times” continue for long and his clients continue to stay on a 'High'- both in air and in spirits by screaming Hu la la la hu le ooooo00000
Mallya ji – kya ka’MALL’ kardi’YA’ ji
